and get his opinion and we are going to carry on with our lives. Okay?”
“Okay. But do you have to call my brother? I don't want to bother him.”
“I'm calling your brother, Angel.”
“Okay. Will you stay here tonight?” she asks quietly.
“Of course.” I give her one more soft kiss and step back. “You go get ready for bed and I'll be there in a second.”
She nods her head and jumps down from the counter. “I'm going to take a quick shower. Will you take Duke outside?”
“Yeah.” I watch as she walks down the hallway, disappearing from sight. I call Duke over and we walk to the back yard. Pulling Lexie's phone out of my back pocket, I scroll down until I see her brother's name. I know the guy probably hates me, but I don't give two shits. This is about Lexie and I will do whatever I have to do to make sure nothing bad ever touches her.
It rings three times before he picks up. “Hey, sis, it's kind of late. Everything okay?”
I clear my throat. “Hey, Nick. It's Zack actually.”
It sounds like he is moving around. “Is everything okay?” he asks in a sharp voice.
“Yeah, Lexie's fine,” I reassure him.
I hear him let out a harsh breath. “Then why are you calling me asshole? You still aren't one of my favorite people.”
I chuckle. “Yeah, okay. Listen, I don't know if you knew this, but Lexie's ex-boyfriend has been bothering her for a while.”
“Bothering her how?”
“Just calls and texts, but it's been going on for over a year. I'm going to get her a new phone number tomorrow, but something he said tonight kind of put me on high alert.”
“Tell me,” he demands.
“I'm not going to go into detail because that's between me and Lex, but he hinted at the fact that he was watching her or us.”
“What the fuck?” he growls.
“Yeah that about sums it up. I wanted to make you aware, but I also need a favor.”
“What kind of favor?”
“I remember Grant talking about a friend of yours. I think his name was Connor? I need his phone number.”
“Why should I give you his number?”
“Because I'm going to handle this, not you. So you can either give me his number or I can bother Grant while he is on his honeymoon and I really don't want to have to do that.”
“Why? She's my sister.”
“This isn't a fucking contest, Nick. Just please send me the fucking number.”
He chuckles. “You do love my sister don't you? Katie mentioned it, but I just thought she was trying to keep me from beating your ass.”
I take a deep breath and answer him honestly. “I love her with every part of me and I have since I was a kid. I will protect her with my life, but right now I just want to make sure that asshole doesn't get within a hundred miles of her. Would you please just give me the fucking number?”
“Damn. Alright then. I have your cell phone number in my phone. I'll text it over to you.”
I let out a sigh. “Thank you,” I mumble into the phone.
“But, Zack, don't make me regret this.”
I want to tell him to fuck off, but I know this is Lexie's brother. So instead I make a sound of agreement and hang up. I call Duke over to me and together we make our way inside. As I lock the back door and shut off all of the lights, I hear my phone buzz. Pulling it from my pocket, I see its Connor's number coming through from Nick and I decide to call him first thing in the morning. Right now, I need to find Lexie and check on her.
I drop both of our phones onto her dresser before sliding my pants and shirt off. I hear the shower still running, so I walk into the bathroom. The sliding door is clear, so even though its foggy, I have a perfect view of Lexie's naked body. God, I don't think I will ever get enough of her. I stand there and watch as she soaps up her body, dragging the bubbles down her stomach. I finally can't take it anymore. She's had a long night, but I just need to feel her skin against mine.
I drop my boxer briefs and fist my hard cock. Telling myself to calm
